The local dailies report that Hillsborough County is “one step closer” to putting a transit tax to a vote:
Commissioners voted 5-2 to have the county attorney craft a resolution saying the board intends to pursue a sales tax referendum for the November 2010 ballot.
Ken Hagan, Mark Sharpe, Kevin White, Rose Ferlita, and Kevin Beckner all voted for the resolution, while Al Higginbotham and Jim Norman voted against it.

But all 4 state senators representing Hillsborough voted against legislation that would have extended Tri-Rail’s insurance policy statewide to cover Orlando and Tampa, so talk about a Tampa light rail system is pointless.

Since it will be nothing but a fiscal black hole in perpetuity, any talk about a light rail system is pointless.
Will it stop the powers-that-be from flushing your hard-earned dollars away on this boondoggle?
To quote Lyle Lanley: “I’ve sold monorails to Brockway, Ogdenville and North Haverbrook. And by gum, it put them on the map!”
