Former Hillsborough County Sheriff Walter C. Heinrich died Monday, February 15, 2010 at 83 years of age.
Heinrich was Hillsborough County’s sheriff for 14 years, from 1978 to ‘82.
A Tribune editorial says Heinrich fought crime and won: “Walter Heinrich was a good man and good sheriff who made Hillsborough a better place to live.”
Hillsborough State Attorney Mark Ober said “You won’t find anyone who will say anything bad about him. He was truly one of the good guys.”
